The Chennai’s most awaited project, Outer Ring Road (ORR) that saw its inception almost two decades ago will finally be available for public use as Phase 2 of the project would soon be completed. The Phase 1 of the project from Vandalur to Nemilichery was made operational in 2014 and the Phase 2 of the stretch from Nemilichery to Minjur got stalled due to land acquisition issues. Now, the stretch would be thrown open for public use in the first week of November 2020.

The 62 km-long stretch is a major transport corridor that would connect Great Southern Trunk (GST) Road at Perungalathur to Tiruvottiyur Ponneri Pancheti (TPP) Road at Minjur. The stretch passes through some of the developing pockets of the city including Thiruninravur, Pattabiram, Nemilicheri, Mittanamallee, Muthapudupet, Veerapuram, Morai, Thirumullaivoyal and may prove as a game-changer for them.

The circular road would also play a crucial role in the development of Tidel Park 3 in Pattabhiram, spread over across 5.57 lakh sq ft and anticipated to generate over 25,000 employment opportunities.
