In a recent development, Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has decided to roll out online sanction of land mutation in the city. Moreover, an applicant will not be required to submit the physical documents every time a land officer demands.

According to Firhad Hakim, Mayor, KMC, the authority is in the advance stages of introducing the online system. It would remove the hassle of submitting the documents physically every time. The system will also ensure transparency in the system and will save the time of the citizens. An applicant needs to upload the scanned copies of some mandatory documents, and our officials will examine them. If there are no major flaws, we will issue a mutation certificate within three working days.

In addition to the mutation, the authority is also keen on providing relief to owners of the building, covering five cottah and above, to add an additional floor under the amended rules by KMC. The new rules have allowed the owners of such lands to build an additional floor after leaving required open spaces.
