Mando admits he doesn’t particularly trust the contact (Greef), but he doesn’t have a choice because baby Yoda won’t be safe until “the Imp” is dead; otherwise he will just keep sending hunters after them. As Mando desperately pleads for the Ugnaught to respond, we discover the stormtroopers have killed the Ugnaught and his ride, kidnapping the child. On the Mandalorian, Mando’s offered an opportunity to take down the Client, gathering a team of allies and preparing for a final stand. This is my second favorite episode of the season, with the 3rd episode (The Sin) still being my favorite one so far. The Stormtroopers arrive on a troop transport (32:36) that’s based on a Star Wars Rebels toy, although some people have said it’s based on an older Hasbro toy from the Original Trilogy (but wasn’t shown in the movies). Her directing has been top-notch with this episode and also episode 3 (my 2 favorite episodes), and I’m very much looking forward to seeing her work on the Obi-Wan TV show which starts next year. Nick Nolte’s Kuiil was fantastic as always, sharing not only his past but also his wisdom in certain parts of the episode. He also wants the Blurrg’s to join him. Kuiil replies by telling Mando his name (Mando had simply called him “Ugnaught”) and saying that he is retired and not suited for that role. It’s a worry because currently, Mando has exposed him to a lot of violence. Carl Weathers played his role in an over the top way, with Greef Karga always speaking formally and coming across as quite cheesy. Greef will arrange an exchange and provide loyal guild members as protection. The town is swarming with Stormtroopers and Cara is angry with Greef for saying there were only 4. This causes Greef to have a change of heart and the next morning, he kills the 2 remaining bounty hunters and confesses to Mando that he was going to kill him and take baby Yoda to the Client. We then see Mando and baby Yoda walking up to her, asking if she’s looking for some work. The scan completes, and they are allowed in. They arrive at the cantina where Greef used to do business. Incidentally, he doesn’t seem to be the mysterious figure from the end of the 5th episode. Mando offers the reluctant Ugnaught a job, who, in turn, offers the droid. Greef says there will be no more than 4 Stormtroopers, as the Client travels with a Fireteam at most. The consequences are shown later in the episode when baby Yoda tries to Force choke Cara Dune because he misunderstands that Cara and Mando are only having some fun arm wrestling.
